By now, most people have seen the crazy new umbrella that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has endorsed to beat the heat at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. And yes, this is a real thing, as the picture above shows Tokyo Governor Koike expounding on the usefulness of the hat-brella.

Well, recently the following picture has been making the rounds of the Japanese Twitter-verse, and it has people shocked and laughing all at once:

The Twitter user @i_hate_camp indicates that this is what the Tokyo 2020 Olympics volunteers will be forced to wear, which would seem more like a punishment than a privilege. The original post has over 35K retweets and over 63K likes. However, if you look closely, you can see that this picture has been photo-shopped to add those now infamous Tokyo 2020 Olympic Hat Umbrellas. And the results are hilarious.

In fact, the original picture looks like this:

You will note that in the original photo there isn’t a hat-brella in sight. This is a picture from the 2017 Tokyo Tourism EXPO, in which they unveiled the new Tokyo Volunteer uniforms ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup Japan Games and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Still, the masterful photo-shop gives you a brief glimpse of what the Tokyo 2020 Olympic volunteers will look like when you arrive in Tokyo. We will let you know if this is what we actually see when the day comes. Either way, I think we can all agree that we all need some hat-brellas in our lives.
