Oita Prefecture in Japan, which is famous for its onsen, is promoting a video of former Olympians performing synchronized swimming in onsen. Just watching the video makes me want to jump into an onsen, so you should check it out here:
An onsen is a Japanese hot spring, which usually contains different types of minerals that help you relax and cleanse.
But there are a few rules at a Japanese onsen, the most important is that you usually have to be completely naked! They do give you a small towel, but it isn’t much to cover with.
I’ve been to an onsen in Japan, and it was a really fun experience. I had to get over the fact that I was completely naked, but once I stepped into that onsen all my worries melted away. And afterwards, I had a nice bottle of chocolate milk–which is typical since onsens can dehydrate your body.
If you have the opportunity, you should definitely head to an onsen. I hear Oita has some great ones!
