What you are seeing is not something out of science fiction, it is actual neon-blue colored curry. But don’t worry, this isn’t some sort of radioactive blue experiment, and it is actually safe to eat. It is “Nemophila” curry from Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki, Japan.
To provide a bit of background, Hitachi Seaside Park is a public park, which is well known for having large fields of beautiful flowers. But it has become particularly famous for its “baby blue eyes”, Nemophila flowers. And they are amazing!
And so, people eventually started brainstorming on ways to further utilize these flowers, and this is was the birth of “Nemophila” curry.
But here is the twist, though “Nemophila” flowers are bright blue, the color of the “Nemophila” curry does not come from the flowers. It is actually bright blue food coloring. And people who have eaten it have confirmed that it generally tastes like any other normal plate of curry, so there isn’t any strange taste.
We are going to try and get a hold of some of this Nemophila curry, and we will let you know what we think!
