2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic And Paralympic Mascots Have Been Decided!

Tokyo 2020

The 2018 Pyeonchang Winter Olympics just finished this weekend, and Japan is one step closer to being ready for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Today, they decided on their 2020 Summer Olympics and 2020 Paralympics Mascots–two out-of-this-world Robot Mascots!

Of course, these Robot Mascots are just as cute as you would imagine. The Tokyo Summer Olympics Mascot has a blue and white checkered pattern that is also part of the 2020 Summer Olympics emblem, and combines a traditional and near-future design. The Tokyo Paralympics mascot has a pink and white checkered pattern, and comes with the power to love nature, talk to stones and the wind, and move objects just by looking at them.

About 200,000 elementary school classes voted for this design, and it was the first time in history that ordinary citizens have voted for the Olympic design. And the brains behind this cool art is Ryo Taniguchi of Fukuoka prefecture. And though they don’t have names just yet, we will make sure to let you know as soon as they do.

I hope you are getting ready for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, because we are!
